Supplies Used In This Craft:

How to Make a Marshmallow Valentine Ornament with Air Dry Foam Clay

  • Prepare your workspace and gather all supplies.
  • Paint your styrofoam block using acrylic paints and allow it to dry completely.
  • Using air dry foam clay, press the clay into the ice cream scoop silicone mold to create the top scoop shape.
  • Apply clear glue to the top of the styrofoam block and place the scoop on top. Gently shape and adjust it using your hands or a paintbrush handle to fit.
  • Create a rope detail using air dry foam clay and the rope silicone mold.
  • Apply glue around the edge where the scoop meets the base, then attach the rope detail all the way around.
  • Insert a toothpick into the top of the scoop, pushing slightly into the base for support.
  • Add a small amount of glue to the top of the toothpick and place a small ball of air dry foam clay on top to create the “marshmallow hat.” Make sure the toothpick is fully covered.
  • Create heart embellishments using air dry foam clay and the heart mold.
  • Attach the hearts to the scoop using clear glue.
  • Apply a small amount of super glue to the back of the resin eyes and place them onto the styrofoam base to create the face.
  • Using a hot glue gun and glue sticks, add decorative glue drips under the rope detail.
  • Create a small mouth using air dry foam clay and attach it to the front with glue.
  • Apply glue where desired and sprinkle with fine glitter for a sparkly finish.
  • Allow the entire piece to dry completely (24–48 hours).
  • Create a small hole at the top and insert a hook and eye. Add ribbon or string to turn it into a hanging ornament.
